Yes, you read it first here, Laura Gissara from Victoria has made Idol history in being the first Australian woman to sing an entire song out of tune in the semi finals and still be voted into the finals.
Somehow, against the laws of physics, gravity and human decency Australian voters have seen it fit to vote Laura through to the finals after Mark gave her a scathing review on last night’s semi final show.
The only possible explanation is sympathy votes, but the real question is why people would waste good money on smsing sympathy votes is beyond me as no one is able to hear their vote results unless they make it through to the top four.
Laura added insult to injury by singing her song again during the verdict show and still managed to sing it entirely out of tune. Australia, this is who you voted in to the top 12, a blonde, kind of attractive character lacking and untalented woman.
I will say it here, and I’ll allow the rest of Australia to say it in the comments below.
SHAME AUSTRALIA SHAME.

I'm from Bendigo, and I can confirm Laura is not from Bendigo. As has been widely publicised, Kate is from Bendigo.
And she stuffed up so badly the second time, in her "victory song" too.
I'm not a mad keen Roxan(n)e fan, but jeez, ANY of the other contestants would have been better than Laura.
ROXANE IS MY IDOL!
So Kate was previously from Bendigo. And is Laura from Bendigo as well? Or not? Laura should be ashamed by her performance and she should be appalled that after that performance she has pushed some great singers out of the running. She was by far the worst performer of the evening, and I stand with my original thoughts of her last night when watching the performance. It was probably the worst Semi Final Performance of any season I've seen.. She just stuffed the whole thing up.. Its a disgrace. Roxanne should have been in.
let's hear it for the best performance of the week: Homer singing 99 Luftballons. that was a classic :-)
found a link to the song. great emotion in that 2nd verse: http://www.clayloomis.com/simsg531a.wav
p.s. Roxane's name isn't spelt correctly on the official site
this is good news from an entertainment point of view. we're almost guaranteed to see her crash and burn *again*, plus see another judge vs judge stoush.
i'm gonna go back and watch mark's reaction in slow-motion. this is truly champagne comedy.
One of Laura's parents works for Telstra. Telstra is in charge of Australian Idol voting.
Telstra included news about Laura's inclusion into the top 12 in their staff newsletter and there are a heck of a lot of Telstra employees out there...
Maybe they got a discount on their SMSes?
Nothing against Laura - she did her best, but Roxanne was definitely the better performer.
you got a copy of that newsletter? :)
No I don't , but I'm sure anyone who works for Telstra can help...
