Gday everyone, tonight's the final night of the semi finals, after tonight we'll know who is in the top 12 and we'll begin to forget about who is out from the top 30...
Sure, a number of people will be distressed, some might feel like their heart's been torn out, but the truth is that after tonight everyone who has come before will be wiped from our collective minds.
For tonight is the last chance for some and the only chance for others, tonight the hopefulls will sing for their supper and the name of the game is do or die. Those that can't live up to the preassure will undoubtedly meet their maker as the Judges dish out their judgements and those who deliver orgasmic performances may be lucky enough to find that they've been pushed out of idol obscurity into the top 12...
For tommorrow night the Judges get to choose 2 Wildcards to go through to the finals, and the public will have to choose one hopeful.

I'm working tonight, so there's no live recap, (I'll start watching my tape around the same time that WA will be receiving the telecast) BUT if you'd like throw your thoughts and judgements here for others to read and cry over.

“Every time I perform I’m going to say that I could have done this better, but I was pretty happy with my performance.
I thought it was all back to front. I would have thought Emily and Dan would have been called back by the judges and Roxane and James would have been the popular choice.
My predictions were Michael and Dan popular and Roxane and Emily judges' pick. Emily has got an absolutely amazing voice but she needs to be a bit more talkative or she risks being another Casey who couldn't do an interview to save her life. Roxane's voice is a bit creepy/chipmunky but she did a fantastic job tonight after she went through as number 13 so I am in 2 minds about her.
I was totally shocked by James' inclusion. He was nice enough but they only picked him because he is cute. He never 'grew' and learned. He was mediocre both times. Michael really improved the second time and I really thought that would get him through.
And I want to say that I luurved Lauren's performance, I thought it was flawless. Esp as her Tina Turner song was absolutely awful.

Guys, as if it was "spontaneous" they had totally planned to make it a top 13, did you see kyles crap acting? They knew who would make it before the viewers choice was announced, thats why they sent emily and james thru coz they probs werent in the top 2. Well emily certainly wasnt, at least. it was all dramatised for sure so theyd make the papers tomorrow. So good work to the Idol publicity team.
i wish they'd make the headlines for completely different reasons. like, making a decent album at the end of all this.

if ngiareie won last year, she would have tanked worse than casey did (if that's even possible?).
mark my words: squeak-toy's bandwagon will be over in two weeks.
edit: she's come up short on votes every time so far, even when she's at her most popular. put her up against dan, lee, natalie, kate, wiggle, james, anne, tarni, and milly and then see how many people will vote for her. there will be more tears coming from her, i assure you :-)

Hope the mutiple postings are ok! Roxanne looks a bit OTT in her orange and gold outfit. Song started slow not showing much, just one powerful, note.
Kyle loved it, thinks she deserves to be in the contest. Mark said she was great but top notes tight. Marica thought she is one of the great singers in the comp. I was let down.
Roxanne - unusual voice, a bit Macey Gray. Quite good - not quite as good as last time she sang - but very good. I think she should go through.
Macy Gray crossed my mind as well. the question is: do we really need another Macy Gray?
I can't believe the judges didn't totally cane Lindsay - he was terrible. He completely lost the band at one point and missed a line. He makes me cringe everytime I see him. Come on judges - giving him compliments like that loses you all credability. What a joke.
Lindsey gave Mark a sleeping mask. He sounded good but affected. The comments from all including Mark were quite gentle. Kyle thinks he's got it all, but Mark thinks his darkness won't connect him with the public.
Chloe-meh vocal, not as strong as last time. Mark says good not ready. Marica and Kyle were meh on her too.
I think Roxie could get Ngaiire'd by Emily. Ten bucks the last spot will be popular vote between them.

Michael - he was pretty good. Sounds like Tracey Chapman.
Michael looks cute in his Strokesesque outfit. Much better than last time and a nice song. Good job, Mark was right about his haunting voice. Mark thanked Marica for fighting for him.
Kyle said the act was boring. Didn't like the song too arty. Marcia fought with Kyle about the "act" and being true to yourself. I agree with Marcia. Best so far.
Lauren, good vocal but very hotel lobby. Song wrong for a teenage girl.
Marcia said it was too old a song to sing. Kyle thought it was a naff choice. Underdelivering on her potential. Mark, thought she was like 19 going on 60.
Judges got it right with Lauren I think. But because they blasted her she could get the sympathy vote.
Yeah ozii, they are being careful about blasting anyone. Josh next.
Josh doesn't have the voice for idol. Looked like he had something sticking up his butt half the time. Nice guy but nowhere near the standard needed. He might just attract some votes though on the 'cute' factor....
Josh-wrong song for his voice which is marginal anyway Mostly in tune I guess. Rap was good but the whole thing was odd.
Kyle-Rap was great, rest not good enough wished he was better. Mark likes him but was miles off it and rap was crap. Marcia congratulated him for his own slant but said no more.
Irene - why did she choose this 80's song? A song that was completely oversung way back then and makes people everywhere reach for the puke bucket.
She lost her voice at the start and might have missed a word. Lost it.

Irene under sung a over the top song. Didn't have the lift off needed and forgot some words. Sounded ok.
Mark likes her but naff song. Marcia thought she looked good but such a hard song to sing in two mins. Kyle waffled about is she a star or not? Meh.
James - shakey start. Looks very very nervous.
Missed a few notes.
Bit of a flat performance for a song that has energy. Could have been a lot better. He looked disappointed with himself as did the judges.
James-has such a nice smooth voice but was very nervous. The judges liked him but thought he was nervous. I hope he gets though. Agreed with Mark that he could not flow freely in the comp so far.
Emily - strange arrangement of a song that I dont think people will know. Bizarre song choice.
She has one of the best voices in the group but it was a bit 'shreaky'.
I'd like to see her go through but dont know that she will on that performance unless its one of the ones that judges choose to go through.
Emily another too arty Lauryn Hill song. Sounded a bit pitchy which suprised me. Too shouty. Bit of a dud I'm afraid.
Kyle didn't like the song but liked her. Mark says great voice and could be a hit record. Said belting does not equal feeling. Loved voice but did not get the feeling. Marcia agreed with them said she neede light and shade. Agreed song too obscure.
Have to say that I'm pretty underwhelmed by tonight's show. No really amazing performances that have sent anything resembling shivers down anything that resembles my spine. I think its a bit of a poor song choice all around type affair.

Was good until the last 20 seconds. Completely lost it at the end! Tried to be too flowery and got nervous.
Dan sounded good till he messed up the end of the song! Still much better than last time.
Mark, Marcia and Kyle agree he can be great and great tone but can needs to overcome his nerves.

None of them totally convinced me tonight. There were too many mistakes, nerves and disasterous song choices.
Maybe they should just have a top 9 this year???

I think Daniel or Roxie will get pop vote and James and Michael or Emily the other choice.
chloe - *enormous shrug* when Kyle says "from a marketing perspective, you're great", what he is actually saying is "nice hat/beanie" 1/10
dan - why wasn't this one criticized as being a naff old song? 2/10
emily - first performance of the entire competition to give me the beginnings of a headache 0/10
irene - i'm over her 2/10
james - an interesting character. not much of a singer. 3/10
josh - neither a singer nor a character. he's this years rob mills 1/10
lauren - sounds like the only professional in this group. it's a shame she's getting the Chanel treatment from Marcia. 7/10
lindsay - great voice. i wish he'd shut up when he's not singing 6/10
michael - surprisingly, i very much liked this guy tonight. there were moments during his performance which reminded me of many great singers. can someone let me know if an mp3 is made of this performance? 7/10
roxane - i can see why people like her. i guess. as an experiment, the next time roxane is due to sing, they should throw one of those doggie squeak toys on the stage and get someone to jump up and down on it for 2 minutes ... then see if anyone can spot the difference. 6/10
p.s. in an ideal world , lauren would've been wearing roxane's outfit :-)
