Top 11 - 60s Performance Show

Best to worst:

1. EMILY "Respect" (grade: A++++++++ star star star star star with lots of stickers!!! E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T) - one of the best singers in the competition. good choice of song...initially i thought "chain of fools" would have been much better but boy, was i blown away by "RESPECT"...you gotta respect this girl...she outsang Kelly Clarkson in her version of this Aretha classic.

2. KATE "Rescue Me" (grade: A with a few stickers) - she sang the song well...had the 60s groove...hopes she lasts another week.

3. DAN "Unchained Melody" (grade: B+) - I thought the arragement was a little slow but he hit most of the notes. great performance vocally...should work more on stage presence...looking away from the camera is annoying...although still miles away from Clay Aiken's version of the song...quite good still!

4. ANNE "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" (grade: B+) - started off well...gave me the tingles in the beginning but she sorta lost it in the middle...good job vocally...most things worked out in the end! Well done!

5. ROXANE "You Can't Hurry Love" (grade: B+) - a little disappointing from THE ROXY but good. Vocally, everything was in place...like Kate...very 60s! Good job!

6. JAMES "Hold On, I'm Coming" (grade: B) - agreed with judges...looked very comfortable on stage, worked the crowd but still a little disappointing...was my favourite at one time during the beginning but now Emily Williams has replaced him...great job...room for improvement.

7. LEE "I'm A Believer" (grade: B-) - extremely safe vocally...I don't like this guy because I believe Idol is all about vocal prowess...sorry Lee but well done...sang well for his fans. Well done!

8. MILLY "Do You Love Me?" (grade: B-) -didn't surpass Diana DeGarmo's version...was good vocally...okay for me.

9. LAURA "Don't Play That Song" (grade: B-) - a little history of American Idol...Kelly Clarkson sang three Aretha songs when she was on Idol..."Respect", "Natural Woman" and "Don't Play That Song". Emily outsang Kelly in "Respect"...Roxane didn't outsing Kelly in "Natural Woman"...and Laura is just a few more miles behind...good job I must admit...but I don't think it's quite enough.

10. NATALIE "Dancing In The Street" (grade: C) - She's just a more "on-pitch" Laura Gissara...was boring...seemed out of rhythm...was all over the place.

11. DANIEL "I Feel Good" (grade: C-) - was very bad...missing a few notes is acceptable but missing the showstopper note is not forgiveable...why choose a James Brown classic that no one but James Brown can conquer when you have more songs you can sing the heck out of...was all over the place...he himself thinks that he can't win...need I say more...

D.J Who do you think is going?

djwright Sun, 2005-09-18 21:38

Daniel...

I think.

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 21:39

i reckon it will be roxane.  dan s will get sympathy votes for stuffing up so badly, and generally being not very good.

everyone, pls vote for kate so she stays!

vote for kate. vote for kate. vote for kate!!!

French Maid Sun, 2005-09-18 21:30

I enjoyed tonight but...

Millie: Loved the song, loved her, but PLEASE MOVE FOR, GOD'S SAKE!!!  Unfortunately I got really angry for her "Now I can dance" Prove it. 6/10

Lee: Pretty much the same evry week, but it was cute with that little kid so he could have snagged himself some more softie fans. It was interesting how he dodged the high notes. 7/10

Laura: I'm pleasantly suprised but still not a fan. Her nose really annoys me and so does her emotion. 6/10

Daniel: He is so likeable even though he kinda sucks. I could'nt help but crunge tonight will the high notes. Talk about mudering it, the rest was OK though. 5/10

Roxane: It's offiical. She scares me. Her small face and eyes and how she moves and squeals. It's freaky. 4/10

Emily: WOWOWOWOWOW She should win just from that. Where was the touchdown? 10/10

James: Makes me cry. I hate how he sings how he moves...his teeth 3/10 Hurry up and leave

Anne: She is very good but kinda boring. Better last week though still one of the top performers. Reminds me of Latoya London she does. 9/10

Dan: Very good. He can sleep tonight. He proberly has the biggest fan base. He sung the song great, though he stuffed ONE note. 9/10

Natalie: She annoys me. She seems really arrogant, and I can't get the picture of Nikki Webter inging that song out of my head. Her hairy armpit was seedy. Appart from all that she was good. 6/10

Kate: I really like her and think she is the black horse in the comp. he look and sung great. 9/10

Bottom 3 =

Roxane

Laura

Daniel

Poor Danny boy to go.

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 21:27

"Laura comes out and yells “come on people, put your hands together

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 21:23

did anyone else notice Lee messing up a few of the lyrics?

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 21:21

cc babcock - firming as my favourite.  yet to disappoint 5/10

muffin top- she seems to have lots of fun when she sings.  i dont have much fun listening. 1/10

dan -  i know the righteous brothers version backwards, and he was basically imitating.  it was a good imitation, but he should put more of his own personality into a song, for a change 4/10

anne - looked a bit better in one of those wigs.  1/10

james - i was wrong. he does suck  0/10

emily - i like her personality. her voice still sounds robotic and unemotional to me 2/10

squeak - she gets worse every week.  her voice was slightly less squeaky tonight, but much weaker.  0/10

dan s -    - 0/10

laura -  still the cutest competitor. she didn't stuff up. good for her.   great body too. she looks great in any outfit. 2/10

lee  - i felt hugely relieved after this one.  put his personal spin on the monkees classic. he's safe this week! 2/10

milly - should've gone last week. i said weeks ago that she's overrated and she still hasn't lived up to her reputation.  awful. just awful.  her voice is unremarkable. she can't dance either.0/10

xlilxmissx Sun, 2005-09-18 21:20

I think that based on 2night's performance..Roxy and Laura should go..

~*luving James 4eva*~

djwright Sun, 2005-09-18 21:23

remember

only ONE goes this week...

and it shouldnt be Roxane :)

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 21:37

yes it should. roxane was worse than laura,  a-gain!

LC Sun, 2005-09-18 20:59

I think Kate and Roxane should go.  Both were very average, and I really don't think they deserve to stay in the comp.

Laura was surprisingly good though!!

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 21:22

kate?!?!?

djwright Sun, 2005-09-18 19:58

Where is everyone...

blueboysgal Sun, 2005-09-18 23:45

Wishing & hoping it won't be Dan S tomorrow (Mon.).

Continuing to love Kate, & pleasantly surprised by James tonight (one of the worst last week ... ).

Best tonight ... Emily & Dan E

xlilxmissx Sun, 2005-09-18 22:33

here lol...sooo worried about James!!!

The Critic Sun, 2005-09-18 20:09

reading... and rolling around on the floor in hysterics

Omm Sun, 2005-09-18 22:29

Overall enjoyed tonight's performance but there is nobody outstanding that I am backing for at the moment, as opposed to the past 2 idols.

Ppl I want gone tomorrow:

Laura - can't stand her.  I was overseas when all the capoobla happened to her and wondered what the fuss was all about.  Last week she was shocking and this week, slightly better vocally, but she is just so fake and robotic.  Please, someone put her and me out of our misery.

Natalie - can't stand her either.  Her song choices are piss weak and she fluffs up notes.

Milly - over-rated.  Saw her semi final performance and she hasn't been anywhere near that standard.  I thought her performance of tonight's song was piss weak to say the least.  There were moments when she didn't say or do anything.  She was definitely not enjoying herself, and there was none of that attitude that's obviously her gimmick.  I don't know what the judges were on, but that was some serious ass kissing seen there.  They probably didn't want one of their favs to be in the bottom 3 again.

Ppl that can stay for another week:

Lee - I just want to see what else he can do.  He hasn't done much so to speak but he does seem to have a nice personality.

Daniel - I just feel sorry for him.  He was definitely trying very hard, but I think he can probably last another week max.

James - I thought his performance was solid, and possibly has the potential for more.  If he doesn't grow, Millsy mark 2 can leave.

Singing budgie aka Roxanne - I really liked Roxie when she sang in the semi finals, but so far she hasn't lived up to my expectations.  Whether it's song choice or just nerves, she better switch on fast.

The serious contenders, who really aren't that any better but look who else is in the comp:

Anne - personally I think she's over rated.  She is Paulini wannabe and her voice isn't as nice as Paulini's.  Her personality is zero and she bores me.  I don't understand all this ass kissing from the judges and the almost touch down.  I mean, like hello!!  That song was not worthy of a touch down.  Puhhleeeese!

Emily - lotta attitude and definintely the best performance of the night.  Let's see what else she has up her sleeves.

Dan - I like Dan and I like his songs.  So far he is my fav but this could change.

Kate - my other fav whom I've liked since the semis.  Definite potential like Casey (let's just hope her recording career post idols won't follow the same road).

But Idol 3 compared to Idol and Idol 2 when I had my clear favs by this stage (Guy & Paulini, Courtney & Casey), I won't be watching with bated breath, because I think I'm more likely to be disappointed that surprised.

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 23:33

the whole night wasn't a very good advertisement for the '60s, was it?

Guilt Trip Mon, 2005-09-19 10:13

wont someone PLEASE think of Anne!  if you don't vote for her, she'll be gone tonight !

vote vote and vote again!!1!

kristee25 Mon, 2005-09-19 12:13

I pretty much agree with your take of the 60's show last night, I thought Dan would have got a touchdown, was shocked that mark even thought of giving Anne one. Originally I really liked milly, but thought she did'nt do anything for that song at all. My vote is definately with Dan

Guilt Trip Sun, 2005-09-18 23:35

agreed on the judges reaction to milly.  perhaps some of these performances sound a lot better when you're there in person while others sound better through the tv?

djwright Mon, 2005-09-19 10:26

why not?

Guilt Trip Mon, 2005-09-19 11:03

if she leaves, i'll be kicking myself that i didn't put some money on it!

her odds were something like 20 to 1.
