Kate won fantastic, hopfully the whinging Emily will show some class and appreciate what she has instead of blubbering over nothing. Good on you Kate. And Dan hope you get a record deal.

Hi, I was pleased to see Kate win because in my opinion she was the best and had the most to offer as an 'Australian' ... Idol. It had nothing to do with racism. I think Emily is fantastic too, however, NZ has a NZ Idol contest as does America and as an Australian I am proud of the fact that an Australian won. In my own considerations throughout the contest, I was listening more than watching as anyone who buys a CD does, (I liked Anne too) and asking myself which voice would I want to listen to the most and for me it was Kate and the fact that she was Australian was just a bonus. I believe that the right two were in the final and that the result could have easily gone either way and irrespective of nationality nobody can deny Emily's amazing voice. For mine, all she needs to do now is 'make it unique'. For me, the 'unique factor' was the difference between the two girls.
Oh shut up, all you can do is cry the old racism rubbish, Emily did not loose really she had an oppotunity and made the best of it, youre an ingrate and the racist againt the Australian public, who do you think voted for her the majority were Australians, youre just a sour cow, and can't except that Emily lost to a better singer, so go and bury youre head in shame for calling Australians racist, youre the racist against Australians, you treat it like a comp; between NZ and Australia, youre small minded and a bigot. Go away, and count youre blessings as I am sure youre Emily has, instead of whinning about our generousness to allow a non citizen of this country to have a fair go and give her hopes for a better future more real than youre ingrate mentality.

The Oz Idol Verdict was a TRAGEDY!! Emily was totally robbed!! Everyone's going on about 'true blue aussie' this, and go the former fat girl looking so good, go the dags of Australia etc etc. It makes me sick. And you could tell Mark Holden was quite disapppointed with the result. While Kate has talent, she got ZERO touchdowns compared to THREE for Emily, who was arguably the best vocalist and performer out of the whole lot, let alone against Kate. Emily was consistent each and every week and has an amazing powerful voice, and delivered the best version of the winner's single on Sunday night. I think this is a RACIAL thing. Why someone that good would lose it to a golden-haired girl says it all. Australia just won't accept a Kiwi girl whose heritage is Samoan. Its ok for guys to be ethnic (ie Random winning X Factor, Guy winning Idol) because its seen as sexy/exotic...but not for females! Emily's talent got completely overlooked because she wasn't a typical blond aussie and didnt get sympathy for being teased by Kyle about her 'tuckshop lady' arms!! I know this is probably too full-on for people to read but I just had to have my say...Im really disappointed in Australia. I had finally gotten over the BB result where the most deserved winner was robbed because Australia loves boring gits with no substance or personality...and now this happens!! When will it end?
um, no, kate doesn't appeal to everyone. NONE of my friends or i like her...but then i guess i'm just not into her style of music. i like punk, and NOT the punk lee sang, good charlotte-honey-coated-sugar-pop-bland punk. REAL PUNK.
I agree with Ceadd - i liked them both for different reasons..congrats to Kate for winning - it was a hard choice this time round for me - but Kate I have to to say was always my favorite!

Yes, it wouldn't matter whether you were 9 or 90 you could listen to and get enjoyment out of Kate ... and her song choices are themes that everyone can relate to. I am wraaaaaaaaaapppppped!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the CDs ..... Clever, gutzy, Aussie girl. An earthy dreamer ... YES!!!!!!!!!

Liked them both for different reasons although have been voting for Kate from the start. Liked her even in the auditions and the fact that actually called herself a 'self confessed dag' won me. She's earthy but those dulcet tones are like heaven ... and she's Australian hooray!!!!! Great to see an Australian win Australian Idol. I think Emily has an amazing voice, and no doubt a huge career ahead, but at the moment she doesn't really sound unique. We've already got Whitney, Mariah, Britanny etc. Kate's like a potential female John Farnham. Go Kate.

the fact that emily sounds similar to such greats as mariah and whitney is even more of an indication of her talent!! and yes she is still very unique-sounding, love that powerful voice that sends shivers...
Emily has a much more universal appeal, like Paulini...i only hope that she goes on to have success elsewhere as it is obvious she is not as appreciated as she should be here!!
