Inside Idol - Top 13

Submitted by djwright on Thu, 2005-09-08 19:03

Yep, tonight is Inside Idol, who knows what will be screened, but whatever it is we'll get to see more of our 13 finalists than we have since the gig started...

Yippee for us!

Wildcard Recap:
Even before the curtains were raised for the Wildcard Verdict the stress and tension was apparent, tears from Roxane and James and others as the wildcards waited to learn if their performances from the other night would pay off.

After James was named the three stooges did a happy dance together with James wondering what happened to the three amigos…

Roxane was stressing out behind the scenes trying to keep it together, her friend Chris Luder was also backstage stressing about the decision that could rock her life. As the verdict was read we saw how Chris was disappointed by the vote, but as the judges told the world of their decision to let someone else through you could see him starting to pep up.

Australian Idol - SHOCK Wildcard Verdict

Submitted by djwright on Mon, 2005-09-05 22:26

I've gone through all the details from tonight's verdict, but first we need to announce that Australian Idol decided on a TOP 13 tonight after the Judges chose two of the weirdest people to send through to the finals as their wildcards... Emily and James!

And after the public were split choosing Dan over Roxane by less than 1% of the votes!!!

Yes, that's right, Mark, Marcia and Kyle chose to put two people through that clearly did not deserve it and when watching Roxane and Daniel who were most popular people on public vote served up a PILE OF UTTER CRAP about how bad they feel and blaming the decision on the Australian public... Although only seconds beforehand they'd decided to not put them through in favour for Emily and James...

***VOTING NOW OPEN - Voting Information***

Gday everyone, tonight's the final night of the semi finals, after tonight we'll know who is in the top 12 and we'll begin to forget about who is out from the top 30...

Sure, a number of people will be distressed, some might feel like their heart's been torn out, but the truth is that after tonight everyone who has come before will be wiped from our collective minds.

For tonight is the last chance for some and the only chance for others, tonight the hopefulls will sing for their supper and the name of the game is do or die. Those that can't live up to the preassure will undoubtedly meet their maker as the Judges dish out their judgements and those who deliver orgasmic performances may be lucky enough to find that they've been pushed out of idol obscurity into the top 12...

Inside Idol Show - Wildcard Song Choices

  • Chloe Zuel - Will be singing Come On Over
  • This chick is cute and hot… Vocally this is a big song to pull off, the breathing could be an issue, so many words in so little time. She’s still sounding great though and might win enough fans to make it through, but she’s competing against Roxane here, she has to be good to beat Roxy’s sympathy votes…

  • Daniel Spillane - Will be singing Gimme Some Lovin (Although Daniel had previously chosen to sing Bed of Roses and decided to choose another song after Lindsay also chose the same song)

Australian Idol - Semi Final Three Live Verdict

Submitted by djwright on Mon, 2005-08-29 18:55

Last night ten wide eyed Idol hopefulls sang for their supper, but only three can be invited to the main course. Tonight we find out who has a seat at the banquet and who will be eating out of the dog bowls outside

For the uninitiated I’ll be posting the verdicts as they are read, first they will discern the top four as voted by the public, and give the bad news to those who failed to impress that they will be going back to work at McDonalds. After the top four has been announced we will be told who has made it to the finals, each contestant singing their song from last night as a thank you to their voters, and to taunt those who are distressed that their favorite didn’t make it through.

Australian Idol - Semi Final Three Recap

Sorry that this was not a live recap, I usually work Sundays, so can’t usually do live gigs on Fridays, but I’ll fix that now and put up my recap…

Before I start I thought that I'd share Ozii's unofficial opinion... just to kickstart the conversation below:

Nat - too over the top - wont make it
Jeremy - very poor - couldn’t hit a note - flat the whole song
    Lauren - 80's - wont make it
Leah - ok, but too frowny - good voice but wont make it
Joe - bizarre fellow - no chance
Natalie - great vocals - reminds me of Tina Arena - should make it
Lee - good could make it - young audience will like

Unfortunately, the long of the short of it is that my video player failed to record this weeks's Inside Idol. This means that I'm relying on you guys to get involved to let us know what happened and what you thought, that is until thecritic can get to downloading the gig and watching it...

I did manage to hunt down most of the song choices...

Wildcard Schmildcard

There's been a lot of talk on the forums of the official site today about the shock inclusion of Laura in the top three in last night's verdict. The rumour mill has been running in overdrive with people suggesting that a workplace newsletter from her dad's place of employment might have encouraged more votes and there has also been a rumour that the spelling of Roxane's name on the official site might have also harmed her chances.

The long of the short of it is that Idol fans all over the country are pretty annoyed at Laura's inclusion and that in itself begs to ask the question of "who the hell spent a million dollars of sms' to get her through?" It obviously wasn't the majority of people viewing this website and very obviously not the majority of people who are a part of the official site's forum... so who the hell DID vote for her?
