Roxanne or Roxane?

Submitted by djwright on Mon, 2005-08-22 22:04

Notice anything weird?

It's been brought to our attention that the illiterate crew over at the official site have misspelt Roxanne's name, you can see that in the recap posted above they've spelt her name with only one N while in others they have used two N's.

I'm unsure if this would have altered the results from the evenings show, but if previous competitions can be trusted you have to use the correct spelling for the vote to count.

Did the misspelling result in Roxanne missing out of the finals? And now that the question's been raised is it two n's or one?

Laura Gissara Australian Idol?

Submitted by djwright on Mon, 2005-08-22 20:39

Yes, you read it first here, Laura Gissara from Victoria has made Idol history in being the first Australian woman to sing an entire song out of tune in the semi finals and still be voted into the finals.

Somehow, against the laws of physics, gravity and human decency Australian voters have seen it fit to vote Laura through to the finals after Mark gave her a scathing review on last night’s semi final show.

The only possible explanation is sympathy votes, but the real question is why people would waste good money on smsing sympathy votes is beyond me as no one is able to hear their vote results unless they make it through to the top four.

The Critic's picks from Group 2

Submitted by The Critic on Sun, 2005-08-21 15:24
Australian Idol Group two

I don't think anyone was too surprised to see Tarni and Chris go through last week but Anne certainly made an impression to land her a spot in the top ten. Group two isn't as strong as the first group so it will be interesting to see what this week's performances are like.

  • Ben Worthington
Ben's singing style is far too old for the audience that spends the money voting on idol. I wont be holding my breath for his name to be called in the top four.
  • Catherine Vasilakis
If Catherine can bust some of the moves she teaches in her hip hop classes then she may just inspire some votes. If not, she wont have mine.
  • David Mardini
When Tarni dedicated her performance to her deceased brother last week it appeared to do the trick in getting her through to the top 12. David is singing a song for his mother. I'm sure she'll like it but I don't think it'll have the same affect for David as it did for Tarni.

Inside Idol Show 2 - Group Two Song Choices

Submitted by djwright on Fri, 2005-08-19 11:07
  • Ben Worthington Will Be Singing - Tell Her About It
  • Ben calls this a safe song, but I can see Kyle calling this "Naff" and an "Old Person Song."

Ben is classically trained and that’s where he wants to go in life, let's just say that his classical voice is much much much better than his pop voice. This will probably suck.

  • Catherine Vasilakis Will Be Singing - Cry Me A River
  • “If you listen to the lyrics you’ll hear my story

We’ll get to have a sneak peak tonight and check them out to make our own decisions prior to their performances THIS SUNDAY NIGHT. Yes, you read right, as of this weekend the performances will happen on the Sunday and the verdicts will be hosted on the Monday directly after the gig.
