Australian Idol 3

Why Lee can't be the Australian Idol...

Submitted by djwright on Tue, 2005-10-18 16:09.

I'm in need of some serious procrastination, so I thought that I'd do some of it here...

There's a massive Lee fanbase out there, some people are suggesting that he might make it into the top 3 and others who are giving him serious odds for winning the competition. Mark Holden's comments and his touchdown last week have boosted Lee's popularity in the competition, but they have also showed a serious misunderstanding of the music industry by Mr Mark Holden.

I'm going to make a controversial statement... Lee's not marketable.

Now, Lee's fan base would probably have my head for this, but to be completely honest I couldn't give a hoot.

Live Verdict - 17 October

Submitted by djwright on Mon, 2005-10-17 19:31.

VOTING NOW CLOSED

Yes, that's right, after last night's awful performances we will see one of the top 7 leave the competition leaving us with 6...

Who will go?

Who will stay?

We'll find out soon!!!

Idolblog Polls:
After the performances the bottom 3 were:
Daniel Spillane 4%
James Kannis 7%
Kate DeAraugo 8%

While before the performances the bottom 3 were:
Daniel Spillane 4%
James Kannis 7%
Dan England 9%

So, it’s my guess that we’ll be saying goodbye to Daniel tonight, although I’d really like to see James out this week…

LIVE CAP - Australian Idol - "The 80's"

Submitted by djwright on Sun, 2005-10-16 19:14.

Voting Is OPEN - How To Vote

Oh dear, yes… Channel ten has gone from Australia’s smartest kids to Australia’s worst song choices. Tonight the Idols try and remind us all of the 80’s by singing the worst of the best songs in the world.

Yes, I am cynical, they’ve had an entire decade of songs to choose and they’ve come up with the most bland selection of songs in the world. It’s night’s like this that provide yet another reason for not letting the Idols choose their own songs…

Inside Idol - Top 07 Song Choices - "80's"

Submitted by djwright on Thu, 2005-10-13 23:46.

I'll spend some time later giving my feedback on the song choices and this week's Inside Idol episode...

But for now I'll say that I was alive in the 80's and there were a tonne of great songs that came out during that period, why then have all the Idols chosen some of the most corny and phenomenally boring songs for this week's performances?

LIVE VERDICT - Australian Idol - Top 8 - Verdict - 10 OCT 2005

Submitted by djwright on Mon, 2005-10-10 19:23.

Voting Now CLOSED - NO MORE VOTING

Eeny Meanie Miney Mo, which idol hopeful will have to go….

Tonight is the evening straight after the big band extravaganza where Lee slicked his hair back, Kate showed the woman behind the dress, Dan England dressed like Mark, Anne made men drool, Milly shook her bootah and Emily was awarded a touchdown.

But now all the performances are forgotten as the top eight are forced to endure yet another verdict, another Monday evening where eight will be made into seven, where one of these hopefuls will join Laura Giss… whatever her name was in the cold hallways and corridors of society’s forgotten one hit wonders….

Voting Now Open - How To Vote

Tonight the Idols will get glammed up, put on the bow ties, slick their hair back and have a go at trying out songs that were made famous by people like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and may others...

So, get your ears ready for some swinging music, some sexy saxomaphones and some awful singing as our Idols perform in the Big Band final show...

I'll be gone for a couple of hours and should start my recap around 830pm EST, but until then let us know what you think below.

Inside Idol - Top 08 Song Choices - "Big Band"

Submitted by djwright on Thu, 2005-10-06 11:53.

Tonight we were able to hear the Idols practice their song choices for the "big band" show, we'd previously hoped that they are better song choices than the ones they've had over the last couple of weeks, the last thing we needed was another exhibition like the "Super Group" or "Idol's Choice" evenings...

Most of the idols find that "Big Band" night is as far out of their comfort zone as a snowman in Iraq… So it will be interesting to see how they cope with the stress that such a week could encourage.

Earlier on in the week the Idols were taken to meet Frank Bennett (oh dear god how I like that guy) who sang for them and taught them a little about the Big Band, we saw the Idols on stage, Milly and Daniel in particular seemed to be fairly comfortable with the stage and style. James seemed to spend most of the night realizing that “Big band

LIVE VERDICT - 3 OCT 2005

Voting Lines Are CLOSED

Guess what?

I'm back... Long story as to my whereabouts over the last 2 weeks, but I'll get to that later, but for now get ready for the verdict for the top 9...

Last night the idols were asked to sing their favorite songs, and, as is normally the case we, as a nation found out that not one of the hopefuls have one iota of musical taste whatsoever… From Lee singing a phenomenal song without any passion to Dan Spillaine singing 1927 the entire night was one horrific exposé into why these people should never ever be voted in as idol. Imagine a CD put together by an individual with music taste like these guys, how positively awful would it be?

Inside Idol - Top 09 Song Choices - "Idol's Choice"

Submitted by djwright on Thu, 2005-09-29 11:47.

This week the Idols were allowed to choose ANY song that they'd like to perform, so with the entire range of song choices available to them can someone please tell me how these stupid songs were chosen?

Daniel's Chosen to sing 1927, Dan England chose Mr Big and Emily chose to sing Mariah Carey...

Do these people have any musical taste at all, or should they ask us to choose their songs for them?

I'll post my thoughts later... As instead of eating tea I took the time out to figure out all the songs...

Now, I'll go to eat...
